Lochside Primary School

The third Pupil Council meeting for session 2007/08 was held in Room 11 at 1.00pm on Tuesday 15^th January 2008. Members of the School Council were invited to attend the meeting.

Mr Wood welcomed the Parent Council members to the meeting and thanked them for their attendance. The Parent Council for their part invited the Pupil Council and their parents to the next Parent Council meeting at 6.30 pm on Tuesday 5^th February 2008.

Mr Wood informed the meeting that as requested the school is to order thirty tracksuit tops along with ten tracksuits from money raised by the school’s Christmas Concert. He also stated that Jamie McLaren was to organise a four week block of basketball coaching. Parents who are interested will be invited to attend the training sessions in the hope that volunteers could be found to supervise future sessions. As Jamie McLaren had offered to attend a future Pupil Council meeting the members agreed to invite him to the next meeting on Tuesday 4^th March 2008. The school was still considering the possibility of a computer club during lunch break.

Lauren Strang raised the issue of a Valentines Disco. Mr Wood explained that this would not be possible this year as the Easter Disco has already been booked for Thursday 27^th March. However, the Pupil Council have been asked to consult with their fellow pupils to find out whether or not they would want an Easter Disco or a Valentines Disco for next year as there would only be four such events per year.

The issue of cheerleader routines will be discussed with Jamie McLaren at the next Pupil Council meeting. It might be possible to organise a competition for a routine to be performed at Lochside’s football tournament at the end of May.

A request to consider repainting the school’s changing rooms was not possible at present. However, Miss Glen and Mrs McGeoch believed that murals could be considered as an option for both rooms. Mrs McGeoch will liaise with the P6/7 Pupil Council members to consider and develop possible suggestions. This issue will then be discussed further at the next Pupil Council meeting.

Mrs McGeoch informed the meeting that the present allocation of one ball per stage will be increased to one per class for the P4 stages upwards. The present colour coding of balls will be maintained to help with identification.

The Pupil Council members will receive a written invitation to attend the next Parent Council meeting with their parents. Juice and crisps would be served to children on the night with tea and biscuits for the adults.

The next meeting of the Pupil Council will be at 1.00 pm on Tuesday 4^th March 2008.
